I was recently approached by Fashion4Africa to styled their upcoming campaign. Fashion4Africa is a project that supports emerging models and Fashion designers of African origin in the UK and Africa through mentoring, training and development projects funded by fundraising events.

For this particular photo shoot, Most statement pieces used as ornaments, headpieces are all Nzingah pieces of jewelry, by the talented Bev Quintal who is an incredible designer. I will elaborate more on her accessories in another post. But for now, all I can say is: her pieces are probably some of the best I have seen. So I really got creative with them here.Styling one as a hat, headpiece, and even a visor. I really appreciate how Anna( the director ) let me get creative but not too much because I can go slighy overboard if left unattended, lol.

Also, while styling for Fashion4Africa, I found out, they advocate for change in the perception ‘African Fashion & Beauty’ with the help of various African Fashion media houses. that contributes to elevating the hopes and aspiration of the young, emerging models and designers of African Origin in the UK and Africa who will also be our future entrepreneurs.

For this shoot, it was all about showcasing the best of these 3 models who won the face of Fashion4Africa competition. I then used a modern and yet traditional take on the Afro-Chic to style them.

Like in the first picture, they scream warrior, feminity, unapologetically powerful and proud of who and what they represent which I always try to portrait in my work. Nonetheless, this wouldn’t have been possible without the great hairstylist and makeup artist and Anna, the director. Shot in a South London photography studio by FemelleStudio.

Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and which one your favorite picture.xoxo

London fashion week

Hi there !

I am Cecile Essono, style blogger, fashion stylist and self-titled Afro chic Queen 😉 . I am from the fantastic country of  Cameroon  and I made London a home for the past 6 years.
As a child ,I used to make sophisticated clothes for my dolls and I was very good at it…I always had the thought that when I grow up I wanted to become the greatest fashion designer Cameroon has ever known .But unfortunately or fortunately maybe, back in Cameroon ,creative jobs usually don’t take you very far in life.
This was one of my main motivation to come to London, which  is an amazing city, where fashion is at its epitome.
While doing modelling works ,  I had the opportunity to meet wonderful creative friends and mentors who inspired me to believe in my dream.I used the modelling opportunity to learn how to use fashion as an armor of beauty and confidence to conquer my fears and uncover my true character. After a few years working as a model, I took an important step in my life, which  led me to become a fashion stylist, creative director ,blogger here on where I am constantly challenging style & fashion, which is forever evolving. I am also now joining YouTube to provide my wise audience with weekly fashion updates.
Thank you for all your love and support and please do not hesitate to contact me, if you ever need help to unleash the fashion genius, who is  sleeping somewhere in you.
